Good evening, I am looking for some advice. My 4 year old (5 in June) is attending our local school and is in reception class.
She has been very poorly with flu type illnesses over the winter resulting in an attendance of just 79%. I have received a letter inviting me in to a panel meeting to discuss her attendance.
I have provided 'evidence' from doctors, hospital etc for her illnesses. One doctor at hospital said it could be due to the covid lockdowns compromising her immune system. We have has blood tests etc, she has no underlying illnesses just gets so poorly and takes so long to get well again. I have tried sending her in whilst still not 100% well which just results in her going backwards obviously and is back off again. It's not fun, we're not on days out, I am missing a lot of work trying to care for her etc. Now I have this added stress from the school.
I feel like this is going to be stressing me out for the next few years. I don't know what to do for the best. Obviously I don't want authorities involved and to be getting into trouble for poor attendance etc.
I don't think I can financially support full time home schooling. I need to work. I don't believe flexi schooling would be an option at her current school.
I came here to talk to anyone who has been in this situation or can offer me any advice or support etc.
Thank you
